New Music Video "Paranoia" Coming Soon
I am excited to announce the release of my upcoming video "Paranoia" COMING SOON on February 8! The video was shot on a cold snowy day in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY and it's different from any that I've ever done. Thanks to Douglas Ferguson who shot the video (and also took this picture!). More updates to come!
Holiday Highlights and Cancer Kids & Christmas
One of the highlights for me this holiday season has been being part of the Cancer Kids & Christmas event back in my hometown. This big fundraising event was all organized by Travis Sparks who, himself, was threatened by cancer, and was then inspired to help others affected by this horrible disease, especially during the holiday season. Being in this hometown atmosphere and seeing people come together to help each other was so uplifting, and a reminder of how we all should strive to help others year-round! It was a humbling experience, and I am thankful.

Reflections
Hello my friends, I'm back after taking a needed week of reflection, instead of having things to share or statements to make, I just wanted to go inward a bit and be rather silent. My grandmother passed away last week, and I wanted to have some time with that, reflecting on her, what I know about her and what I don't, remembering that our parents and grandparents all had lives before we even came along! I was trying to make sure I remember and honor characteristics and ways about her that were passed on to my mom, to me and my sister, and probably came from many generations before. While we are all unique, my grandmother Margaret (yes my sister is named after her) was absolutely no exception in her quirky attitude, and sometimes dark humor! My grandparents were farmers, I mean, she was dedicated and did not leave their farm - she didn't even see the ocean until recent years when my mom took her to the beach in a wheelchair! (It's a funny story, ask my mom about it when you see her!) I do think that traces of love for the earth, plant life, and animals seeped its ways down through my mom and into my being. The hardworking farming mentality clearly runs through the veins of my mother who grew up working on the farm - she cannot be tamed and spends her free time outside gardening and enjoying the fruits of that manual labor. My grandparents were of a generation and time that I cannot imagine -World War II. (I have only heard rumors about my grandfather's experiences in Germany, I wish I knew more, but we never got a chance to talk about it.) I have tried to imagine all the experiences my grandmother must have had and things she must have seen up until last week with a full life of work, farming, family, cooking (she loved cooking and was great at it!) and her art. She was an artist! I must say this because, though her work may not have been sold or in galleries, her artwork is sprinkled everywhere in the households of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to paint, put household items together in the most artistic way, and she had the most beautiful handwriting! I have a lamp made out of an emu egg, a pretty red birdhouse, and a dynamic tree creation built out of alphabet blocks and other creatures-all reflections of her wild imagination! It was just in April when I last visited her, and got a chance to speak with her about what was going on in my life. She'd never said this before to me, but she said it then, that it was important to go to church, especially with your loved ones. Well, today in church we sang about freedom, and were reminded of what true freedom means. Now, I just imagine and hope that my grandmother Margaret is free-truly free to soar above this beautiful creation on which we live and join the universal master artist and creator! And that she may be honored and remembered in peace and love.
"Tolerance"... A Year Later
It's hard to believe that a year has passed since the horrific events in Orlando, killing 49 innocent people. That event, and the discourse that I heard following that event, inspired me to put down a few of my own thoughts to music. The idea was to be tolerant of all people, and resist a notion to let tragedies further a divide between good people of all nationalities, faiths, races, gender, or lifestyle. Rather, these tragedies should serve to bring us all together closer in a common love and bond for humankind. Today, remember how precious it is and what an honor it is to be alive on this planet at the same small blip in time as all other people standing up for good and peace on this earth.
Can't Help Falling in Love...
I just posted this video of my cover version of another one of my favorite song classics "Can't Help Falling in Love". I love performing this song, it's one that just will never go out of style - and I'm certainly still in love with the original version performed by Elvis! Thanks for checking it out!
"This Kiss"-Exciting Reviews and Plans for First Single!
I have some super exciting news for the upcoming album! I did a crowd review for song "This Kiss" (the crowd review uses independent and random listeners to rate the song). "This Kiss" got a high review of 8.1 and will be featured for a week on ReverbNation! I'm not sure yet which week this will be, but this is great in helping to confirm that "This Kiss" should be the first single to be released for the album and hopefully the feature week can be lined up with the single release date! More info to come soon!
This "Natural Woman" is Kicking off February with Love and Romance! (What a surprise!)
The month of St. Valentine is upon us! And so, to celebrate this wonderful month of love and romance, I am kicking it off with this ultra romantic love song cover performance of "Natural Woman". Originally by Carole King and made famous by so many (like Aretha Franklin), I love this song and I love performing it! Thanks to Jason's Music Center in Maryland for letting me record it on this beautiful Baldwin Grand Piano in their showroom!
